Duties and Responsibilities:
The AT Specialist is responsible for
- Processing AT referrals for students;
- Participates as part of an assessment team to assess and determine eligibility for AT equipment/services
- Prepares written reports
- Participating as an active member of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) team assisting in the development and monitoring of AT related goals and objectives
- Providing training to Special Education staff members & parents on technology devices
- Providing direct AT support services to students as needed
- Provides in-services, training and consultation to general education staff and parents as needed
- Study new technology and keep a breast of new developments in AT and development of AT related instructional programs and device recommendations
- Participating in the development of procedures, reporting forms, and records to manage the program/program development
- Ordering & maintaining inventory of equipment and warranties minor repairs of devices as needed;
- Maintaining case files and creating reports;
- Performing a variety of instructional supports and services within a well-defined framework of policies procedures and objectives
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional personnel, community and families
- Maintaining a positive, open communication with staff, schools, parents and agencies
- Ability to coordinate and direct the work of staff, paraeducators and support personnel;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:
- Valid California Teaching credential; preferably in Special Education;
- Assistive Technology Certificate;
- Demonstrated experience successfully teaching special education students;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional personnel, community and families;
- Ability to coordinate and direct the work of staff, paraeducators and support personnel;
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
- Valid California Driver’s License.
