Hiring Special Education Teachers for 2020-2021 SY!

Looking for Early Childhood Special Educational Teachers (SPED) for full-time, school-based assignments in Santa Cruz, California. Other locations with openings include Soquel, Aptos and Scotts Valley areas of Northern California. An ideal candidate will possess an appropriate Educational Specialist Credential, Early Childhood Education or SH Specialist Instructor Credential.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Special Education from an accredited University program
  • Educational Specialist Credential, Early Childhood Education or SH Specialist Instructor Credential
  • Assess individual abilities and needs of students, and provide appropriate levels of directed learning experiences.
  • Establish realistic and appropriate goals and objectives for each student.
  • Design and effectively implement an appropriate learning/support program for each student.
  • Assess individual abilities and needs of students, and provide appropriate levels of directed learning experiences.
  • In cooperation with other team members, develop Individual Education Program (IEP) objectives.
  • Adjust and individualize educational program, including by modifying an activity and creating adaptations, on an individual basis for the purpose of helping students to address specific needs for progress.
  • Instruct and assist in the development of competencies that promote social, language, and mobility skills, and habits that promote health, physical development and safety.
  • Develop transition programs for students entering kindergarten or first grade to allow for success in a regular classroom environment.
  • Consult and articulate with staff and parents, via meetings and telephone, regarding the needs of students and utilize available resources to facilitate student progress
